LBC launched the first ever Arabic Gladiators, also known as 'Gladiators - Heroes (الأبطال)'. The show, which first aired on LBCI on the 9th October 2009, pitted 36 Contenders from 11 Arab countries (including Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen) against the toughest 14 Gladiators from the Middle East.
Lebanese model Zeina Khoury was the co-host of the Arab version of Gladiators. Joining Zeina was Star Academy student and self proclaimed rapper, Nasser Abu Lafi. The show was refereed by Elias Teeth.
The Contenders battled to win US$ 50,000 in prize money each and the title of First Arab Gladiator. The champion Contenders were Rima Taha, from Jordan, and Rayan Ghurab, from Saudi Arabia.
The set used in the Arabic Gladiators series had been purchased from NBC's American Gladiators when it had ceased production.
